Hopes and Dreams

Part – 4

God told me that dreams are goals that are supercharged with hope.  Our greatest hope is found in the Lord, therefore so is our greatest dream.  Are you simply completing goals and tasks or are you dreaming? If you are dreaming, who’s dream for your life are you pursuing? Is it the American Dream of finding success and wealth in yourself?  Is it your parent’s dream of who you should marry and what career you should have? Is it God’s dream? Is it your own dream? Pause, take some time to think about and write out the answers to these questions.

God is the greatest dreamer of all times. Look at creation! He dreamt it up and spoke it into being. I was listening to the radio on the way to work the other morning. They were talking about daydreaming. They said that the top three things that are daydreamed about are dolphins, outer space, and the things of God. Whether it’s a dream that is made up of goals, a daydream, or whatever you want to call it, what is your dream?

Joseph, in the Bible, was known as a dreamer and an interpreter of dreams. From the time he had the first dream recorded in the Bible and the time it came to pass was many years. During those years, Joseph experienced many hardships and trials. He endured and didn’t lose the hope that God had given him. We need to hold tight to the dreams that God has given us. We can’t lose hope and give up on our dreams when things get tough. God wants you to dream and to have hope.

Deut 31:6 “Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.” (NKJV) God is with you and he goes before you to prepare the way. He is preparing the way for you to take. He is also preparing you to take the path to your dream.

Philippians 2:13 “For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.” (NLT) Psalm 37:4 “Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” (ESV) God fills our heart with desires to do what pleases him. Also, as we delight ourselves in him, spend time with him regularly, he fulfills the desires of our hearts. Are your hopes and dreams in line with his will? Are you desiring his hopes and dreams to be fulfilled in you?

This is more or less just some food for thought. Contemplate your goals, dreams, hopes, and desires for your future. Ask God if they are of him, from him, or for him. If the answer is no to all three then take some time with God, asking him to give you new hopes, desires, and dreams.  Jeremiah 29:11 states that he wants to give you a hope and a future. He wants you to be successful and whole in him. Rely on him and dream big today.
