Heed God’s Warning

Pay Special Attention – part 2

As we learned last week, heed means to pay special attention. God has given us many warnings all throughout the Bible. I will only highlight a few for you today. God gives us warnings in our everyday life as well.  I will give you those examples first. So keep in mind that God wants you to heed or pay special attention to His warnings.

Sometimes God will give you a warning about something that is coming up in your life. He has done this for Chris (my husband) in the past. Chris had a prophetic dream about a path that was going to become blocked and that he was going to have to go a new direction. Within a few months, he lost his job. At this point, he had only worked for “mom and pop” shops but God wanted to move him into the dealership world. Either way he would still have the same job title but the atmosphere, pace, and method of calculating pay would be new. He was scared but he followed God’s direction and gained a job offer on the same day he lost his job. God warned him that this was going to happen and it sure did make the transition easier. So if you’ve had a dream or vision that just stands out in your mind ask God to reveal to you if it’s a warning from Him or not.

God cares about us so much. There was recently a few large earthquakes in California (where my mom lives). Before the earthquake, God warned my mom that an earthquake was coming and that she needed to move her watermelon; it was on the island in her kitchen. She scooted it to the center. Had she not heeded God’s warning and left it where it had been it would have rolled off the counter.

Here are 4 warnings that are found in The Word.

  1. 2 Peter 3:17-18 Therefore, dear friends, since you have been forewarned, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of the lawless and fall from your secure position. But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen. (NIV)
  2. Colossians 2:8 Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. (NKJV)
  3. Matthew 10:32-33 “Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. But whoever disowns me before others, I will disown before my Father in heaven.” (NIV)
  4. Galatians 1:7-8 which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse! (NIV)

Even now people are trying to change the scriptures to mean what they want it to. Even now the devil is trying to cause confusion. Heed God’s warning to not fall into the false doctrines that are being preached even today. Heed His warning to not put philosophy and traditions above the truth found in the Bible. Follow Jesus Christ and his teachings. Heed God’s warning. Don’t deny knowing Him. Don’t hide your faith from those you come into contact with. This doesn’t include sending/posting or not the chain mail or posts that try to use this verse to get you to share/spread them. This means to be true to yourself in regards to your faith in Jesus no matter where you are or who you are around.

There are many more warnings in the Word but these are the verses God asked me to share with you today. I hope they touched and changed you for the better.  As always, I would love to pray for you just use the contact tab to send me your prayer requests. Feel free to comment or ask questions.
